Prof. Roh’s Open-Enrollment SkillsFuture Course in 2026
Hi Team 👋
In my role as an SMU Academy Fellow appointed by our university, I’ve been working to make my courses in computational data science (Python and R programming–based), behavioral decision science, and agentic AI (artificial intelligence) accessible to anyone interested in enrolling.
Over the years, it has been a pleasure to share my expertise beyond capital-intensive organizations and our business school’s master’s programs—where course fees are often quite high. Through these open-enrollment offerings, I’ve had the privilege of engaging with participants not only from Singapore but also from abroad, including postgraduate students from Yale University and Columbia University in New York City, as well as professionals from the Philippines and Malaysia.
I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to offer these public lectures, as I was appointed this year as Academic Director for a new Master’s program in AI in Business at our SMU business school, which is set to launch next August (after all, we all have the same 24 hours). Nevertheless, my 2026 courses, which were scheduled earlier this year, will proceed as planned.
Since I often receive inquiries through various channels about my open-enrollment courses, I’ve compiled all my SkillsFuture course offerings for 2026 below.
If you wish to enroll in any of these courses, please email me at
sroh@smu.edu.sg
. I’ll follow up with the schedule details and inform you once public enrollment opens.

This is six-module advanced certification program where you will learn from the very basic of Python programming and to learn all the way to have your own github page with portfolio of problem-solving in diverse business problems. The 2026 cohort will start in April (15th, 16th, and 18th).
NOTE: The six-module Advanced Certificate programs include a Slack discussion board, where you’ll engage with your cohort, as well as with me and the teaching assistant (TA), to experience a complete learning journey from A to Z.
Module 1: Customer Segmentation and User Recommender Systems
Module 2: Predicting Customer Lifetime Value and User Attrition
Module 3: Causal Inference and Programme Evaluation with A/B Testing & Multi-Armed Bandits
Module 4: Algorithmic Trading and Computational Finance
Module 5: Natural Language Processing (NLP), Sentiment Analysis, & Large Language Models (LLMs)
Module 6: Deploying Business Analytics with Interactive Dashboarding for Decision-Making

This is also a six-module Advanced Certificate program, where you will learn the fundamentals of R programming, along with machine learning and time-series forecasting. Many participants take this course after completing the Python program above, though the sequence depends on their schedule. Some choose to take both courses simultaneously. If you plan to take both, please let me know—I’ll be giving guidance on how to optimize your learning experience. The 2026 cohort is scheduled to begin on March 18, 19, and 21.
NOTE: The six-module Advanced Certificate programs include a Slack discussion board, where you’ll engage with your cohort, as well as with me and the teaching assistant (TA), to experience a complete learning journey from A to Z.
Module 1: Introduction to Data Analytics and Visualisation
Module 2: Unsupervised Machine Learning: Clustering, Dimension Reduction, & Multi-Dimensional Scaling
Module 3: Supervised Machine Learning: Classification and Regression
Module 4: Time-Series Forecasting
Module 5: Prescriptive Analytics and Decision Analysis with Agentic AI
Module 6: Developing Shiny Apps, GitHub Repositories, and Analytics Project Webpages

The two advanced certification programs should ideally be taken in sequence. However, the modules themselves may be taken independently on a modular basis. These modules form part of the Industry Graduate Diploma program.
